Portrait of a Baby as...still a Baby

About a month ago, Charlie boy started on solids and LOVES it. We've been making our own food for him: carrots, squash, peas. It's quite fun actually. Messy, but fun.

A callow-lilly plant for mommy on Mother's Day

This one is for the inside jacket of Charlie's upcoming non-fiction volume on the history of North American customs for eating soft foods.

This is the photo that will be used in next year's "Celebrity Profiles" newsletter when Charlie realizes that his recently published volume only sold two copies - both to his Mom. It kinda says "I can hang in there. Just you wait for my second book."

Our Montreal/Ottawa journey

Charlie's first big trip was pretty smooth. He flew relatively well and kept sleeping through the night in a playpen rather than his crib. What a sport! And he loved being held all day by relatives and friends.

His Finnish toque from nanna.

Sharing some sqeals with mommy at Parliament.

My amazing husband and sweet boy.

Just the cutest kid in the cutest hat - ever.

And when we got home... Charlie started to SIT BY HIMSELF!
Teaching Charlie the importance of shoe shopping whenever you are in a new city.

Having last seen her grandson at 4 days old - it was very hard to pry him from nanna's arms.

My mom and dad

While back home I tried to get Charlie acquainted with my people's fine culinary delights.
(Mmmmmmm)
Pepe Dubreuil serenades his grandson with melodies from his weird flute.

Enjoying a sunny afternoon in Hudson with Michelle. (After hearing for the nth time from his pepe how much better it would be to raise Charlie in Hudson, where both the crime rate and real estate prices are really low!)

Charlie gets introduced to the Montreal theatre babes.

A few surprises!

Here are the latest additions. Little, white and SHARP!!!

"GO CANUCKS GO!!!"  (We used to be Habs fans... I don't know how this happened... But we like it!"

Our blooming front yard.

Our blooming backyard.

Packing for our trip out East. Okay, I used to over pack. Until I had Charlie. My stuff is to the left of Charlie - everything else is HIS!!! What gives?!

Father and son talk

Charlie and his dad have this conversation nearly every day. Eventually he'll give him some answers.

Our good friends Mike and Rebecca gave birth to their daughter Lilia yesterday! Charlie hasn't seen her yet, but he hearts her already!

After he posed for his note to Lilia, he did a little dance for her.

Charlie's first TWO teeth just came in!  He's been chewing on his lower lip a lot this week. (Better that than other things that come to mind...)

Don't want a flat head or a wobbly neck? Try some Tummy Time!

Charlie stares at himself on the LCD screen

"Charlie and Sharks and Bears... Oh my!"

Out and about with Charlie's dad...

... and mine!

Hanging out in Mike and Rebecca's 20th floor condo. Charlie didn't seem to mind the heights at all. Sean on the other hand hung out by the walls.

Charlie is practicing his sitting in the Bumbo. He starts to tilt over after about five minutes, but he just loves watching us cook in the kitchen. He drools and coos. It's very motivating.

Here I am grooming Charlie to take my place as daddy's playwriting editor.

Here are the mamas on our latest date. I don't know what I would do without them!

What a month!

My show has closed and our visit from Grandma and Grampy Devine came and went. It was unbelievably helpful having them here so that I could rest in between feedings and get over being sick.  Their long walks with Charlie, good cooking and diaper changes will be greatly missed.

Hanging out with Grandma and Grampy Devine!

You should hear this man sing!!! What a beautiful voice.

Charlie is ALL smiles these days (in between blowing spit bubbles, eating his fingers and screeching with delight)!

I have been taking pictures of Charlie in this chair every week since he was born. The changes are incredible.

4-8 weeks

Charlie sure has changed a lot since these earlier clips were shot, but life around here has been pretty busy with rehearsals, so we're a bit behind schedule on getting this posted.  He is a very calm and peaceful baby as you will see, and a day doesn't go by where we aren't grateful for it!
WARNING: It is 6 minutes of baby watching so it may get boring to some. But for the grandparents and family far away it's a must see. Enjoy!

A busy weekend

Charlie in his Finnish garb. "Moomins" are very big in Grandma Nurmi's home country.

Charlie was handed around at Jody-Kay's baby shower and one girl Phoebe made him the subject of some sweet pics. Thanks!

All three babes have arrived! Our Charlie, Tara Jean's Violet and lastly Jody-Kay's Jade. They are all so beautiful. We did it MAMAS!!! And au naturel no less!!! All three down! Who's ready for #2?

Spending some quiet time with Papa after a long day at rehearsal with Mom. Thanks Papa.   xoxo
